EmbeddedDriver I am positive that that driver should have no issues loading as that is the driver specified in the tutorial and it had no issues creating the database using that driver. It turns out it was the fact that I was missing the required derby files from my referenced libraries Classpath. Failed to restart one application server in cluster, see ClassNotFoundException.
